Every time of year has its own perks, and this Autumn season comes with exciting colours and styles. We spoke to Kerry Little, Dis‑Chem's Professional Hair Salon Coordinator about these trends for 2021.
“This year’s Autumn colour trends are not restricted!” says Kerry. “From soft balayage and ombre blends in natural hues of brushed golds, warm blondes and soft reds, to more pronounced shades of grey, caramel, auburn and chocolate browns, all are having their moment.”
Intermingling dark and golden toned blonde highlights onto light brown hair, creates a gorgeous honey blonde finish that flatters every skin tone. This effect works in a wide range of styles too because of the depth and movement it creates.
This bold colour is set to be everywhere this Autumn. It’s the perfect option if you have dark or medium coloured hair. Opt for a vibrant copper dye, with subtle auburn lowlights to add dimension.
CHOCOLATE AND CINNAMON
Deep, rich chocolates are the perfect Autumn inspiration for brunettes. Think caramel, cocoa and toffee hues as highlights.
STYLING TIPS TO MANAGE YOUR HAIR YOURSELF, IN CHALLENGING WEATHER
LOW SLUNG BUN
2021 is the year of the sleek low bun. The simplicity of this style is ultra-sophisticated and gives a classic, feminine look. Slick your hair back using a medium to super hold gel, ensuring all pieces are secure.
SULTRY MESSY BUN
Using a mousse or humidity spray, gently scrunch your hair then push it up, in a messy, undefined bun.
This look suits any face shape and can be done in less than two minutes. No fuss. Remember to use hairspray to keep it in place.
SEXY, TAME PONYTAIL
Odds are, the moisture in the air, will make it difficult to style your hair in any elaborate manner and keeping your hair down, may prove difficult, especially if you have hard to manage locks. Humidity causes frizz and hard to tame waves. The solution? Tie your hair back in a clean, slick, sexy ponytail.
STYLE TRENDSThe BLUNT “LOB” that hits right at the collarbone is not only a length that is always flattering, but the razor-sharp lines make for a timeless, sophisticated look. The CHIC SHAGGY CUT involves layering medium to long hair that adds amazing texture and movement, creating a sexy, free-spirited effect. Minimal styling is required. FACE FRAMING LAYERS WITH BANGS looks gorgeous on all hair types, lengths and colours. Short cuts are super popular right now. THE MODERN PIXIE CUT has always been timeless. This season it’s still one of the most favoured short cut options, as it looks super chic, in addition to being extremely easy to maintain.
Braids can add an extra layer of structure to your hair, which may further reduce the dreaded frizz.
Try one large, pretty braid down your back, or opt for two braids for a playful, youthful look.
SOPHISTICATED SLICK BACK
If your hair is short, ponytails and braids aren’t an option for you. For a chilly day, apply a gel and smooth hair back. The gel keeps your hairstyle frizz free and in place, whilst giving it a wet appearance that can look very sexy.
Try these easy techniques in challenging weather conditions, to manage your tresses quickly and easily, and still look beautiful.
