Benefits of using micellar water

There is no one left who hasn’t heard of micellar water, although it’s likely that you’re still not sure what it’s for. Does it cleanse or refresh? Does it remove makeup effectively? Is it suitable for all skin types? Today we reveal why everyone’s talking about it.

THE 3 REASONS EVERYONE’S TALKING ABOUT MICELLAR WATER

For perfect skin the first thing we have to bear in mind is cleansing. It’s the first step towards an effective beauty routine. You already know that without good cleansing, the products that you apply afterwards won’t be as effective if there is makeup residue and dirt. So, this could be one of the reasons why cleansing is gaining more and more importance, and why micellar waters have revolutionised the cosmetics sector. If we had to sum up why everyone is talking about them in 3 points, it would be these:

  1. Because as well as removing dirt and makeup, they eliminate pollution particles that are invisible to the naked eye. These particles, called PM 2.5 particles, are capable of penetrating the skin and inducing oxidative stress (what we would call inflammation and accelerated ageing). Which is why daily makeup removal is essential.
  2. Because scrubbing is truly over! This type of water is formed by “micelles”, a sphere-shaped chemical structure that attracts dirt and skin oil like a magnet, leaving them trapped inside the structure. So with micellar water, say goodbye to having to use 5 cotton pads (3 for applying the cleansing milk and 2 for removing it with the tonic) and irritating your skin. Micellar waters clean in one simple motion: all you have to do it soak a cotton pad and dab it across your face without wiping. We recommend using it when you wake up in the morning to remove the excess sebum produced overnight, and before going to bed to remove makeup and dirt that has built up during the day. As practicality is the order of the day, micellar waters are perfect for saving time and money.
  3. Because they’re suitable for all skin typesBecause they have a mild formula they are suitable for all skin types, even the most delicate. Although using a specific micellar water for your skin type would be ideal. A few weeks ago we told you about La Roche-Posay’s new micellar waters because they had just launched 3 for each skin type, because not all skin is the same and we all have specific needs. But the act of cleansing in a single motion avoids friction and as a consequence we don’t irritate our skin.

It’s all the rage among celebrities and that’s how we discovered it a few months ago. So, have you included micellar water in your beauty routine?
