Double Up For Better Beauty

Delve into the transformative power of double cleansing, for healthier, clearer, and more vibrant skin.

Double cleansing is a skincare technique that involves washing the face twice with two different cleansers to achieve a deeper clean. This method helps to remove dirt, makeup, and other impurities from the skin without stripping away its natural oils. The idea behind double cleansing is to provide an extra layer of protection against skin damage caused by environmental factors such as pollution and UV rays.

 STEP 1

General cleansing should be done every day using a gentle cleanser or soap-free product. This will help to break down any excess oil, dirt and makeup that have built up on the surface of the skin throughout the day. It’s important not to scrub too hard when you’re washing your face as this could cause irritation or redness. Instead use lukewarm water and circular motions when applying your cleanser.

 STEP 2

Double cleansing requires two separate products – one for removing makeup and another for deep-cleaning pores. For removing makeup specifically, it’s best to opt for micellar waters or oil-based formulas that contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid or glycerin designed to hydrate while gently dissolving any stubborn residue from waterproof mascara or foundation. Once all traces of make-up are gone, a water or gel based facial wash can be used to get rid of trapped sebum (oil) and bacteria deep within pores. Look out for ingredients such as salicylic acid, which helps exfoliate dead cells on top of tackling blemishes. Or if you have dry skin, try something more mild like hyaluronic acid which does a great job at nourishing delicate areas.

How often one needs to do this depends on their individual skin concerns and lifestyle:

  • Heavy Makeup and Sunscreen Users: Consider double cleansing daily to ensure a thorough cleanse. Once in the morning before starting your daily routine then again at night before hitting bedtime —this way all pore blockages will be removed properly allowing easier absorption for serums and moisturisers during the night.
  • Sensitive or Dry Skin: Double cleanse on days you wear heavy makeup and sunscreen, otherwise daily use is not needed.
  • Combination Skin: Can be done on an as-needed basis. If you tend to use heavier products or live in areas with high pollution levels, then you might want to double cleanse more frequently.
