It’s huge news in the beauty world when an international luxury cosmetic house announces a new ambassador. And, as you can imagine, the announcement of not one – but two – high-profile and proudly South African trailblazing women creating positive change is even more newsworthy!

In a first-of-its-kind deal in Africa, German makeup brand CATRICE, represented by Cosmetix in South Africa, has appointed Anele Zondo and Willemien ‘Minki’ van der Westhuizen as brand ambassadors for its innovative and luxury-inspired make-up line. Anele and Minki were chosen from a shortlist of well-established beauty industry figures.

United in their mission to represent CATRICE, while also embodying the positive virtues and values that empower women worldwide, Anele and Minki are powerhouses in the fashion world and pioneers in the beauty industry. Both have redefined what true beauty is.

Graced with elegance, natural charm and a sunny spirit, Anele, who hails from KwaZulu-Natal, is loved for her leading roles in some of the most popular television shows in Mzansi, including the second season of the Mzansi Magic drama series It’s Complicated, Saints and Sinners and the award-winning soapie The River.

With a combined social media following of 1,320 million, ‘Ney The Bae’ (as Anele is affectionately known) has created a base of ‘bae’ supporters who follow her for her inspiration, aesthetic, and constant elevation and boss babe vibes. The One Mic and Massive Music host has also just launched her rap career with her debut single Ingwe featuring Given Zulu.

Minki – the former presenter of Pasella on SABC 2 and the Afrikaans dating reality series Boer Soek ‘n Vrou – is admired not only for her drop-dead beauty but also for her kind-hearted confidence, down-to-earth character, and love for all things bright and beautiful. The mother and wife who has won many hearts with her outstanding presenting skills is a role model for many people. This is an aspect that has made her acquire more than 201K followers on Instagram and 139K on Facebook.

Minki enjoys candid and uplifting conversations with inspiring individuals from all walks of life, as well as discovering new beauty products, giving honest recommendations, and sharing her favourite products and brands with others. In addition, she is enthusiastic about teaching her admirers and fans how to accentuate their best features with cosmetics.

Anele and Minki are excited to be working with CATRICE and say they feel ‘privileged and honoured’ to represent the company, promote CATRICE products on their social media channels, and introduce the brand to even more South African consumers.

“CATRICE has been making waves in the beauty industry for its high-quality products that are perfect for everyday women. But what really sets CATRICE apart is its commitment to being an inclusive brand that represents all forms of beauty. It’s exciting to be associated with such a brand, and I’m looking forward to sharing CATRICE’s iconic make-up with my South African and international fans,” says Anele.

“I have always loved make-up and cosmetics, and I am excited to work with CATRICE. The brand is extremely credible, and its products are of the highest quality. I can’t wait to share the brand with my fans,” adds Minki.

Commenting on the appointment of Anele and Minki, CEO of Cosmetix Cindy Nell-Roberts, says that the brand distributor – which also represents essence and Caribbeantan – is delighted to have signed this major deal with two of the most captivating, professional, and focused women in South Africa.

“Anele and Minki are the quintessential CATRICE women; they are both authentic, glamorous, and longtime fans of CATRICE cosmetics. They are devoted to ‘clean beauty’ with demonstrable outcomes. They care about sustainability and our children’s future. They value things that are well-made, reasonably priced, and of great quality, as well as those that are produced with ethics and honesty in mind,” says Cindy.
