Increasing measles cases pose risks to adults too
While measles – a potentially deadly and highly contagious viral disease – is almost entirely preventable through tried-and-tested vaccines, outbreaks in Africa are still common. Indeed, in South Africa, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases recently issued a measles alert following the identification of four cases in Gauteng at the end of May.
