Cool 2 Care
November 7th, saw the Matriculants of The Durbanville Children’s Home arrive swathed in winter clothes on what should have been a sunny Spring day.
Dis-Chem Foundation’s Cool 2 Care brought the matriculants out of suburbia to the wilds!
Clara Anna Fontein, the nature reserve at the Heart of Durbanville’s Wine route, opened their heart and doors to these soon-to-be- adults. They supplied a fantastic three course breakfast accompanied by juices, Tea and Coffee. The staff warmed to the children and soon all were good friends.
John, the game Ranger, had his turn at 10am as the children headed out in the open Land Rover. Blankets were a necessity as the cold and drizzle set in, but, enthusiasm soon replaced the shivers.
Eland, Gemsbok, Sable Antelope, Zebra, Ostriches and Springbok romped the plains and the children were in awe of the wild so close to home. Facts shared, about the animals, brought “oohs!” and “aahs!”
Apothecary was next on the list as a subject, with natural remedies in and amongst the “fynbos” being demonstrated.
Finally, upon their return to base camp, the group was again blessed with beautiful “Goody Bags” supplied by Dis-Chem and Dis-Chem Foundation’s Cool 2 Care.
A CHILLY DAY WARMED BY THE HEARTS OF THE CARING AND CARED FOR!
